At the advice of our trainer, Zoey, Ziva & I are entering a WAY fun adventure of 're-potty' training! Oh the joy! Basically they are going in stripped down crates for now, will gradually re-introduce beds or buy Kuranda Beds. They will be in their crates for the most part then taking them out to new potty area (litter box) every 30 minutes and twice during the night (can we say F-U-N?). Gradually as they become more reliable they will have more freedom, and right now will get free/play time as a reward for going potty like they should in their new spot. If they don't go potty back into their crates they go for 15 minutes. I just can't take any more peeing on fabric, clothes, beds, carpet, rugs etc. Rob is about ready to rip both his and my hair out lol. He is ALWAYS the one that finds the accidents with his bare feet, poor guy. He is worried we are going to have to replace the carpet when we move. They will also get a few hours of 'desk' time at night & on my days off as they both hold it pretty well when they are on my desk.

Their new potty spot at first will be in a large storage container so they can't 'trot' off the potty pad as we are going to gradually get them used to going potty on the litter. That's what we had to do with Miss Zoey as a puppy as you'd put her on the potty pad she'd walk off it a couple feet, squat and pee right where she was. I feel like I have a newborn puppy! So much fun! Wish us luck, I will post our progress here.

Good luck!!! They really can be re-trained. Will just take some time and patience. Say go potty until you lose your voice and scream and yell and give treats when they do and they really will "get" it. ))

You know the one real benefit of Oakley's surgery has been it's FORCED us to re-potty train her because she's on crate rest. She hasn't had a single accident in the past 2 weeks. She was pretty reliable before, but not wonderfully so. So..good luck w/ your girls, it DOES work to do it this way (of course!). We just don't always like to put our babies in those crates!

Well so far tonight Zoey's peed in the litter twice, Ziva has pooped but not peed yet. Zoey needs to poop though, but right now they are having some 'desk' time. I'm optimistic that if we are 'strict' and then they start 'earning' their freedom things will go better in the long run.

Good luck! I am going back to basics with my girls too, I feel like the accidents will never stop! I just don't get how trained pups can go from, well, being trained, to doing whatever they please wherever they please it! Grr.
