Here is a little snippet into Radleys life so far with us.

On his first day he had a gruelling 2 1/2 hour drive back from the breeders to home, most of which was spent on my lap or curled up in my handbag.
Just before we got home we stopped off at the local pets@home and picked up a few bits and pieces to aid in Radleys training.

From day one we taught him what the puppy training pad is for, this he has picked up pretty well, although we do have the odd accident en route or when a little too excited.

He settled in really quickly, and after a few hours ate his first meal, and had toiletted properly. A relief to both me & my partner as we knew he was relatively comfortable in his new home.
He has become a real mummys boy, following me pretty much everywhere, and luckily for him as I am self employed I am home quite often and when he is able to go out he will be able to come to work with me sometimes.

On Day 2, Radley discovered the fun of toys. He spent most of the day jumping from one to another and chasing us around the apartment.

Two weeks in, Radley has learnt a lot of the basic commands, like sit, stay, wee, etc. He knows what NO means, but occasionally chooses to ignore it.

He is still a little unsure of the collar and lead, but that is to be expected, he is generally ok with putting his jumpers on when we are going out, although has the odd grump and growl. Never lasts long though.

He has learnt his name well and comes when told to. He sleeps in his bed, plays and chews his own toys and generally is very clever and well behaved.

Yesterday Radley visited the pet shop in his carrier and picked out some chew toys to knaw on, he also picked up a new collar and some yummy training treats. He was very tired and a little grumpy with it, all the playing and adventures wore him out, he slept most of the evening and night in his bed without so much as a whimper.

Today, is his first trip to the vets for vaccination number one, and I suspect this will cause the mother of all sulks when we return home, but we shall see.
I shall of course update this when we return.


So far so good, and he is a joy to have about... as I type this he is trundling off to his puppy pad... GOOOOD BOY!!! :0)

He's doing well,Dottie who we picked up saturday has settled in and loves to play with my sheltie and other chi,forgot what work is involved with a new puppy .Good luck at the vets

~*~ My dogs are not spoilt, I'm just well trained ~*~

I am so proud... We have just got back from the vets and he was so good. I warned the vet he was being a little grumpy, and I thought he was a little gassy/bloated which the vet confirmed, but nothing to worry about.
He had a full health check and all is well, and jab number one is now complete.

He didn't flinch or whimper at all, he did try to hide in my jacket but other than that the vet was very impressed at the tiny but mighty little puppy..

I think Radley has just learnt the hard way that there is plenty of things a lot nastier than having your collar and lead put on though :0)

12weeks = 1kg of cheekiness

Well Radley has now lived with us happily for nearly 5 weeks, he has been to the vets twice, visited my sisters house and met all my neices, nephews, sisters etc. He has had both my mum and my O/Hs parents visit him in his home and coped well. He has investigated the balcony over looking the river and watched all the geese, swans, ducks and seagulls.

In addition to all of this, he has had several adventures in his carrier, including visiting daddy at work and meeting a few of his staff of the twilight shift, visits to the local pet store to pick a new toy, a trip to the bank and a trip to boots.

Yesterday was the biggest of them all.... he came in the car with me to O/H's work to pick him up. On arrival, he came out of the bag and went in being carried, oooh it was a little scary and being a chi he started to shake. He then received plenty of fuss from a few of the ladies working (one of which is drawing a portrait of him).
We then went on to McDonalds (we were feeling lazy), and he sat on my lap watching us both tuck in to a yummy burger.

Finally, being so close, we decided to pop in to pets@home for a walk around (again all being carried), on his journey he met a group of 10 scout cubs, most of which had a quick stroke, as did the parents, he then met/saw a rabbit, guinnea pig and a few gerbils, shortly after he met a baby shih tzu. All the time being stroked by passers by as they coo'ed over how cute he is.

As a reward for such brave and good behaviour daddy brought him a new snuggle sack sleeper, a pack of 3 chewy bones and some shampoo ready for his first bath tomorrow.

Once we finally got out of the shop he fell asleep on my lap as we drove the extremely long 5 minutes home, and when finally back in the apartment, he had his tea followed by a good old play time with daddy (which he absolutely loves).

He buried himself in the snuggle sack, chewed his bones and eventually went to bed at 11pm last night on his new sleeper next to my bed.

This weekend also holds lots of new adventures, including a trip to the park and coffee house, a bath, and a trip to town. Whilst next week see's his first official walk on the floor, and meeting cousins Millie & Jenson (my mums dogs) and going for a nice walk with them around their local park.

It's a busy life being Radley

Oh and not to forget he wil be coming to work with me on a few days next week too and seeing what mummy does.

What a cute little puppy boy. He seems to have adjusted very well to home and is certainly a loved little guy. Have lots of fun with him out and about and at your mums.
