To me, she doesn't look like she needs to lose that much weight. But it is really hard to judge by a picture.

Instead of having a pound loss goal, I would just have her lose until her body condition is what it should be, as I described above. It that happens to require 2.5 lbs, then good. If less, good. Whatever it takes to have her look and feel good.

Good luck!

Ashley is right, I agree 100%.

If she is not used to exercise, start slowly, and increase little by little.
Feed less, and NO treats or scraps, ever. Do not dwell on numbers, to
lose in a healthy way takes time, there is no need to overdo things,
slowly but surely will do the trick. Best of luck! Enjoy those walks,
I know I do, to me there is nothing better than a relaxing walk in
the woods with my dogs, healthy for everyone involved.

Walked about a mile today, she did great once we got going. Feed her the 1/2 cup of TOTW, but she refused the pumpkin mixed in. Decided I would bake them some pumpkin treats instead.

Go Tia! And you too, of course! It's great for her and you. And its excellent bonding time. Since I got Toby, I've lost over 30 lbs just from walking. We walk a ton!

I need to walk more and I think that she will help me do that! I can only walk in the afternoons and evenings, but I plan on doing the neighborhood I live in atleast once a day. There are 3 streets in our neighborhood and I live on the middle one, my plan is going down my street, up and down one of the others, and the back up mine. That should be about a mile in total.

This thread is music to my ears, I love love love reading about people committing
to walking their dogs and enjoying it. Walking is such a crucial part of life, for us
and the pups. So many people don't walk enough themselves, and so many
don't walk their dogs at all. I wish more people could discover for themselves
the difference some exercise, fresh air and sunshine can make. To me, my
walks are a life saver. I'd be in bed crying about being sick if it wasn't for my walks,
they help clear my mind of unnecessary stress and clutter, help me focus, help me
think straight. My dogs' health has improved tremendously because of our walks
as well, and the walks helped them overcome a whole pile of behavioral and
mental issues. The best things in life really are free, some unfortunately take
these things for granted. I'm glad you girls don't.

Ashley, congrats on your weight loss, I bet you've built up your endurance too!
And Holly, I wish you the best of luck with Tia, I'm sure she'll be a happier and
healthier girl.
