Hi All
Hi all. My wife and I just adopted a cute little chihuahua named Roxie, from my sister-in-law. They got her in september but had to get rid of her since their landlord had a change of mind about allowing the dog.
I am so happy that we adopted Roxie. My in-law had gotten a male a few months before Roxie and ended up giving him to my mother-in-law so they could get a female. The day they had picked up Roxie from the breeder, the same one that they had gotten the male from, my sister-in-law was literally trying to sell the puppies that they were "going to have in 6 or 8 months". It made me sick, she wanted to get rid of the male, Chopper, to get the female so she could have puppies so my sis-in-law could get money by breeding Roxie with Chopper and selling the pups. That is the worst thing she could do.. I told her "why would I want to buy a pup from a puppy mill?" cause thats is the way she was acting. She just blew it off like I was kidding around, but I wasn't.
Now I know that IF she is ever bred it will be for the right reasons, not just to make a profit, which was what she wanted to do with Roxie. It will be to further the breed. I am hoping to train her to eventually be shown at some local dog shows. I have owned a few registered dogs befor but never showed them they were just part of the family, as Roxie has become in the past 2 days.
Are there any good guides that anyone can recommend as far as how to take care of the chihuahua and show training them.
Thanks.
Brad
ps hopefully I will be able to get some pics up soon.
