Smile Good day folks

Hi all. I stumbled onto this forum when I was researching chihuahuas. I don't have one yet but I am looking for that perfect little bundle of fun. I just have no clue on where to start. I have heard there a couple of different types, sizes, hair and on and on. Any info one could shed light on would make my choice a bit easier.
I am not new to dogs in general as I have always had a dog growing up. I just don't know where to start. Pet store or breeder, male or female, fixed or not. questions, questions and more questions...... Please help. LOL

Hi & welcome. It just depends on what you're looking for. Do you want a long hair or a short hair? What color do you think you'd want? If none of this matters & all you definitely know is that you want a Chi, the first place I would recommend looking is all the shelters in your area & the rescues. You could also look in your local papers.

I had thought about that but I am unsure how hearty a smaller dog would be. I am discovering many people on other boards saying that a sick dog is a much bigger deal with a small dog such as a Chi. I have heard many horror stories and even experience a couple myself indirectly when a family member adopted a dog from a shelter. I cannot afford huge vet bills after the expected purchase price for a Chi. I am trying to gather what info I can BEFORE deciding where to go find that little bundle of joy.
