Hi Jen,

Im so sorry to hear about Becky I hope her remaining days can be as easy a possible for her and that she doesn't feel any pain.

I don't think you should feel like you are betraying her, I'm sure she wouldn't want you to be alone.
I'm sure you are just focusing on Becky for now and spending as much time as possible with her so she know's you love her!

Only you can know the right time and when you'll be ready for another pup. Just be prepared for a massive change, I think we all too easily forget the puppy days

Welcome to the forum

Default Becky has passed away

Hey everyone thanks for all of your support. I am a bit of an emotional wreck today as I had to have Becky put to sleep yesterday evening. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. Things took a turn for the worse Monday night and she went downhill very quickly. She stopped being able to wee and was in such terrible discomfort and pain. It was so hard to have to say goodbye to her because she was still so aware of everything that was going on around her. The vets were very good and came to my house to do it. I ask for her to be sedated before they actually adminstered the final drug. They sedated her on my lap and it was terrible when she went all limp, I just couldn't stay in the room for the rest of it. I left the room and collapsed in a heap. I couldn't sleep last night because she wasn't on the bed with me, even after not sleeping at all the night before as we were at the vets at 2am getting her bladder drained. I'm sorry I want to say more but I can't really see what I am typing at the moment, I will come back later.

I am soooo sorry for your loss. I hope you'll feel better soon, but I know it's very difficult. We had to put our 12 y.o. miniature poodle to sleep last year and that was definitely the hardest decision I ever had to make (he developed a large tumor beside his stomach). It just sucks right now and nothing can make it better, but there will be light at the end of the tunnel again.
Enjoy your new baby whenever you decide to get him. Take care.

I am so sorry... I can only imagine how you feel, but I am sure you made the right decision in her best interest, and one thing that may make you feel somewhat better is that at least now you are struggling through your own pain, and she isn't feeling any pain any longer, just peace.
I am so sorry for your loss...

I lost my Gidget, a Maltese, to cancer over the summer and I waited about three weeks. I was not going to get over it. Even now I can think about her only for seconds before I get teary. The dog before that, I waited a year. I just turned 50 years old, I figure why wait? Having a dog seems to be one of the good things in life for me and I'm grateful to be able to afford it!

So sorry for what you are about to go through or have already.

Bob
