Good evening all!

My names Abbey and I am Mario's mummy
Mario is my fawn shorthaired chihuahua who was a year old in August

I rehomed him when he was 9 months old from a lady in London she had him in a tower block and she worked all the time so she had no time to look after him

He came with issues as a rehome he had NEVER been socialised, he had never gone for walks, when he did go out he was allowed to run around and bite and bark whoever he wanted

This has left me with a challenge of training this beautiful boy as he is lovely when he's with me he just cannot ever meet anyone else as he bites and barks and can't be near other dogs or people

It's sad to see how she ruined him because he would hand been a beautiful tempered dog had he of been trained from the start

So that's ms and I live in the UK with my 3 year old son and Fiancé

I would not give up on him being able to be socialized. It would take patience and persistence but with some work it would be worth it in the end. I would start getting him used to other dogs and being around people. Lots of praise and treats to show him that it is a good thing to interact with new experiences.

It is really sad that she did not socialize him and let him do what he wanted with barking and biting but hopefully he can be trained properly now.

He really was worth it he has adapted so brilliantly to my wheelchair at first he was a bit scared of it as you would expect from such a small dog
Now he hitches a lift on it if we are going long distances (:

I started him in a course of puppy training as soon as I got him he grew each week becoming more confident and listening to me more

Hi, Abbey and Mario! Welcome to CP! It is wonderful that you adopted Mario and he now has a chance for a better life. It is sad that his former owner did not socialize him but it was good of her to give him up since she could not care for him properly.
