Hi there, I'm pretty new at this.
Anyway I joined this forum because I
am really worried about my 12 month old
Chi named Poppy. She brings so much
Happiness to me that when she gets anxious
And frightened it worries me a lot.
Poppy is frightened of
men mostly but she loves my youngest
son. My older boys and husband she is really
Terrified of. I'm hoping someone can help
me because I'm so sad Poppy is frightened
In her home.

Was she abused by men before you got her?

Are you sure she's frightened at the sight of them or frightened because they like to play/talk loud & rowty? Chis don't like yelling, screaming, a lot of excitment. Look at things from their point-of-view (being so small). Everything is so much bigger/louder/scarier too them. If your chi is truly scared of men--have them lay on the floor & spend quality time with her giving some treats. It will take time, but she should come around.

Hi there Holly,
Poppy wasn't abused but there was mention of a nasty
neighbour. I did get Poppy when she was 5 months old
and the poor lady who sold her to me did say her neighbour
Wasn't very nice and he did shout a lot. So that I would say

Sure! Maybe have your sons and husband sit with treats and have her come to them, but ignore her. That way she associates them with treats and good things.
