There is a Moose on the loose!
Hello Chi People! I've been lurking for awhile and thought it was time to join. I am a newer Chi owner of a fabulous little guy named Moose.
We adopted him in spring from a rescue that had him in foster care. I've never had a Chi before much less such a small dog (grew up with labs) so this has been quite an experience! All I know of his history is that he was rescued from a high kill shelter, placed into a foster home and then we adopted him. He turned one in October.
Once we had him I realized there was a little more maintainance than I had anticipated so I started researching and found this group. As I said, I've been lurking for some time and have learned a lot.
I cannot believe how much we lucked out. Moose is an awesome little guy. He loves our children (ages 4 and 6) and loves all dogs, even the big boys. He loves to play and will try to eat ANYTHING. We had to break out the baby gates again once I realized how sensitive their tummies are. Luckily we've had no issues and he's healthy as a horse. My 4 y/o daughter loves to wheel him around in the baby doll stroller and he will run and hop in there willingly when he's ready for a ride.
He's NOT liking winter too much! We are in northern US. That's been a hard adjustment but he still goes outside. He was never trained on pads so that is all he knows I guess. I wouldn't mind a pad for him in the house during winter but I also don't want to confuse him. In the meantime we've had much fun buying coats, sweaters, etc. There are some REALLY crafty people on here too!
Moose turned one in October and is just under 9 lbs and seems very broad shouldered. He came to us crate trained but once we could trust him at night we built stairs to our large bed and he snuggles with us at night WAY under the covers! He has two feline siblings (cats age 15 and 12). He loves them but only one cat will tolerate him. And then she just swats him when she's not in the mood. LOL.
I will attempt a pic. I look forward to getting to know everyone.
