Trouble got her CGC and TDI as well as her Novice Rally title when she was a year old. I didn't intend to ever compete with her, I just wanted a pet and maybe if she ever got good enough, a therapy dog. It sort of went from there. I guess I was guilty of the same views a lot of people have about Chi's - they are only for pets. I joined a dog club to get her trained to come back to me and the next thing I know, my instructor suggests I try Rally. So, from there it just kept going. Chihuahuas are REALLY smart dogs. In 2011 she got her CD - no one thought she would ever get that - and her Rally Advanced title. In 2012 she got her Rally Excellent and Rally Advanced Excellent titles. The amazing part of all of this is - in all the showing we have done we have NQ'ed twice - and it was all my fault both times! She is consistent at shows and she can tell when she's there because she will prance around like she's showing off. It is so cute. And no matter what any judge says - cuteness counts for sure! I'm hoping to try for another RAE title this year and maybe her CDX.
If I can get a video I will post it because it is really funny to watch. But she loves doing dumbbell work and her off leash healing is getting there. We have a lot of fun showing and she knows when she did a good job. If anyone ever gets a chance to do something like this, I would very much recommend it. My dog has benefited from it more than I would have ever imagined.
