I feed my dogs blue wilderness which is a extremely high protein food and can def put weight on a dog. As a matter of a fact that is a warning if your dog is not very active could cause weight gain

If you aren't already feeding a grain-free kibble, I would start with that. Dogs are carnivores so their diet should be focused on meat & protein. Grains like corn, rice, etc. that are prevalent in most commercial dog kibbles are not healthy, so eliminating any poor quality food and replacing it with either raw diet, dehydrated raw, or grain-free kibble will be your best bet in putting HEALTHY weight on them. =)
