Hi! I'm Sioned, and the reason I'm here is our newest family member: Kaia. Kaia is a gorgeous, incredibly smart, sweet beyond words, nearly 7-month-old, 3.2 oz. Chihuahua puppy who is being spayed tomorrow. My husband and I are both nurses (I do CCU at the local hospital, while he does Geriatric Nursing a town away), and you'd think that I would be able to cope far better with Kaia's impending surgery than I seem to be managing. I've actually visited this site on numerous occasions in the 5 months since we adopted our baby girl, but decided to register and properly introduce myself now, as I'm finding myself reading all of the posts regarding spaying during the time when I really ought to be sleeping. In any case, "hello" to all...and I will post a pic or two of Kaia just as soon as I figure out how to do so...

Thank you for the welcome! And by "3.2 oz", I meant "3.2 lbs". Kaia's tiny, but not quite *that* tiny! ::sigh:: First post = Fail. Good news is she made it through surgery, deciduous teeth extraction, and microchipping without incident and we can pick her up at 5PM!

Hopefully she is home and doing OK. She will be 'out' of it most of the day of surgery. That night can be rough. Just keep her warm and quiet. Give a little water and a little food, if she'll eat. I had a puppy playpen, so her pee pad was right there. I left her sleep and I kept my bedroom door open in case. Not a peep. My little one (3#'s when spayed) was a drama queen, and demanded to be fed in the pen! Did very little the first 3 days. Was on pain meds which helped. After the 3rd day, it was back to the usual self. Good luck with her.
