Chi-chi had her 2nd birthday last week.
She's a gorgeous black & tan chi & is loved so very much.

Unfortunately Ive just had to take her to the vets. She's always made a 'honking' noise since she was a baby, but it wasn't very often or severe.

It got worse last week, as she started 'honking' & gasping for breath more frequently. I videoed her doing it, & showed our vet. She noticed chi chis neck hurt when she squeezed it, so recommended either anti inflammortaries or an X-ray to see what the problem could be. I've decided to get her xrayed, appointment is on Tuesday.

Usually when chi chi 'honks' i lift her up & rub her throat & shes back to her normal fun self! but Today chi chi was off her food & looking sad, I'm so worried it might be bad news. The vet didn't think it was collapsing trachea, as they usually 'honk' more at night, where as chi chi does it at random times & not at night time.

Was wondering if anyone else's chis 'honk' or have symptoms like my chi chi?

Anyway I'll keep you updated & please keep your fingers crossed for chi chi

I have a chi with a collapsing trachea. She does fine as long as she doesn't exert herself too much. My chi's also have a reverse sneeze. Sound somewhat the same. The only thing my vet did was to take an x-ray, that didn't show it. She pressed on the trachea,and the dog immediately started to cough. She 'suspects' a collapsing trachea.

My Chihuahua made some honking noises on and off around that same age ! I was starting to worry about collapse Trachea but he suddenly stopped and it never returned. He is 4 now. He has a few other issues but the honking noise never returned ! And like your pupp - mine is also loved so very much !

Agrree with everyone, sounds like reverse sneezing.

When Timmy firrst did that, I thought he was choking and really freaked
me out.

But now I know it is reverse sneezing.

He only does it now when he is really excited.
