Ah thanks everyone, poor little lad, at least it is over for him now, it was really large and had come on very quickly, so I doubt even if the surgery had worked that it wouldn't have come back again. Having had a dog and another hamster have drawn out endings in the last year I wouldn't have wished it for him.
My old hamster got a tumor also I booked an appointment at the vets for the monday and he died on the sunday He had a very heartfelt funeral and I was 22 when this happened LOL. I am glad to know I am not the only one great stories!!!

My daughter is 18 - she just rang me the vet was on to her and P Nut died, he lived through the surgery but just after he died. We are collecting him in the morning he will be buried beside his pal ROFL who died of old age earlier this year.
I thought your daughter was like Abi's age lol bless her that makes it even sweeter most 18 year olds wouldn't care about a hamster

I had a Teddy bear hamster growing up and it lived about 5 yrs. It got a cyst or some sort of lump on it and mom didnt have time to take it to the vet, it grew very rapidly and mom decided to take it to the vet one afternoon and it exploded before she got home from work. I will never forget that That must have been a horrible death. Mom wasnt much of a pet person and I imagine in those days it was probably unheard of to take a hamster to the vet anyways. Makes me physically ill to think about it
