I thought everyone that loves or owned a hamster might like to see
what purebred pedigree hamsters look like.My Swedish hamsters
all had pedigrees that went back 7 generations or more.
I bred and showed them for 15 years thruout the US and Canada.
I had both domestic & Swedish Syrian hamsters in many coat types
like satin(very shiny) and rex(wavy like the rex cat) coat types
and I even had hairless hamsters a rarely seen thing now.
I had multi gene colors such as tri colored and chocolate which
is one of the most coveted colors in the hamster genetics world.
I had to go to Canada to get the rex gene and paid as much as
$40 a hamster to get it.They were imported directly from Sweden
from the Manstenen line there.I bought them from Brian at
Tershonians Hamsters in Sarnia, Canada.
Brian no longer breeds hamsters now.
I also had Siberian Dwarf hamsters in the rare colors such as lavendar
and champaigne.Champagne is a 5 gene color and takes a long
time to propagate.Canadian dwarfs have wonderful temperments
but sadly are very diabetic. You cant breed it out either.
I had people come from other states to get my sweet natured dwarfies.
I started my hamstery in Hornersville, Missouri and wrote an article
there that was used in a newspaper on the east coast.
When I moved to Michigan I moved my entire hamstery there.
It was quite a trip but everyone made it even our pregnant girls.
Below you can see examples of coat types and colors.
I will try to list them in groups accordingly.
