As some may already know Hollie our lab had a spay done on Wednesday.She came home that evening and slept alot,which was good for her.Then yesterday it took all day to get her to pee.I took her out countless times over the day and she didn't go until approx.4 pm. Winters are cold here and she used to tolerate it just fine.But today I had her out about 5-10 minutes and she started lifting her paw so I started to bring her in and she just dropped and laid in the snow belly down,I coaxed her up and got her back in the house and called the vet's office to report this as it scared me and she has never acted this way before.Good thing I just stayed in the front yard with her.
I was told it was probably too cold for her so the rest of the day when she needed to be out I taped my socks to her feet and put a t-shirt on her and this seemed to work,(when they stayed on)Took all day to get her to pee again today and vet's office said sometimes to squat to go bothers them that things should be fine.Just keep taking her out she should go.I hate seeing her like this.I got my mom to go get me some booties earlier tonight for her, I asked her to get large but she got medium and they just might do until hubby can get to the store in the next day or two.
I sure hope tomorrow is a much better day for her.I really don't want another day like today.

Poor Hollie, hope she feels better soon. Is she eating and drinking normal? I would be worried too, they usually seem to bounce back pretty fast from a spay.

Poor Hollie =( That must have been very scary seeing her just lay down like that I would have been scared too! Bless her! Praying she recovers soon so she can be back to her old self. It took Shayley a good few days to get back to herself, she's 8 years old. How old is Hollie?

She is eating her normal amount at meal times and I don't think she is drinking as much as she normally would but she is drinking.
Tonight for her dinner I added some warm water so her food was floating in it and she finished that too.I figured this was one way too get more water in her.When she does drink though she laps up for a minute or two.
I did inform the vet office of this too

I want her back to her old self too, very soon, this is wearing me out lol all that running in and out and having to fully dress her and myself.I been taking her out every hour unless she is sleeping
Hollie is 2 1/2 yrs

Is she on any pain medications?

Shayley would only go potty once a day, she never had any accidents in the house (which I thought maybe she would) but when she did go outside she would go right away and then want to go back to her bed. It took her a day to drink and I think 2 days to eat. I was really scared too. We never want our babies to be "not themselves"

they sent her home with metacam for 3 days,,last dose due in the morning after she eats breakfast
