Default Help Please???

Hi Guys,

Haven't been posting much lately because I have had an awful headcold & absolutely no energy, but am on the mend, so hope to be more active now.....

Anyhow...... On to the problem......

As some may have seen me mention, I have a 4 year old son with special needs. Now he absolutely adores dogs and was becoming a bit of a hazard to our poor Pebbles as he would try picking her up by her skin or leg. We don't want to take all interaction away from our son because the dogs help him come out of himself & also he likes to "talk" to them & communication is a big goal for us. Soooo, in an attempt to protect our Pebbs and keep our son happy we adopted a Mini Poodle x for our son Jesse.

Elmo is an adorable goofball puppy who loves to lick Jesse's face and try to get him to play (exactly what we wanted). There is one issue though, he drinks constantly & pees EVERYWHERE! We have had him checked & there i no medical reason for the drinking, not diabetic & no uti so I am at a loss as to what to do. I have praised him for going outside or on the pads, but now he just pees right in front of me wherever he is, thinking I will praise him for it. I say "No" and it just doesn't have any effect! I have started emptying the water bowl at night, but last night he just freaked out & ran around the house like crazy then sat pawing at the bowl until I gave in & gave him a little water.

The only thing I can think of is that with his thick curly coat he is hot in the house, but I don't want to shave him at the moment because it is still quite cold outside here.

He is about 14 weeks old, so still young & I am holding out hope he will eventually get control over his bad habit, but any ideas on how I can help would be greatly appreciated.

PS. Sorry for the novel!

Hi Michele,

Yep I do let him out every hour if not more when I'm home & if I'm out he is confined to our small kitchen with the other dogs but he just doesn't seem to get it?

He is getting better with the water restrictions though & hasn't panicked as much the last 2 nights when I've taken it away.
