I wanted to wait and see how things went before introducing Julian properly. We've had him just over a week now and it has been one heck of a journey!! We found him via a forum for cresteds; and thanks to the help of many amazing volunteers we arranged a "crestie railroad" and transported him 11 hours to get to us. We just thought he had a heart murmur and were prepared to handle that, as you know with Zoey we can't say no to any special needs pups... then found out just days later when we brought him to our vet that he had Patent Ductus Arteriosus... a life-threatening congenital defect. =( He needed surgery; of which the vet schools by us were quoting an average of $3000... waaay above our budget. Thanks to some recommendations of a kind stranger on Craigslist we found a vet hospital a few hour away willing to do the surgery for a much more reasonable cost and set up a Chip-In account to help raise the money. Within 6 hours..I repeat SIX HOURS we had enough to do it..... I was so shocked, felt so blessed, words could not describe it. Here is a link to the page that goes into a little more detail about his situation and shares some pictures (I am NOT soliciting or asking for donations; you'll see on there the goal has already been met =)).
He will go in for his operation this Tuesday already, will have to be hospitalized for a few days and we are worried sick. We could use your thoughts, prayers, luck, vibes; whatever you can spare. I've never had to have a pet undergo heart surgery before. If anyone here has ever had a dog that had Patent Ductus Arteriosus I would love to hear from you. Thanks.
