Question Prey Model Raw question for Labradoodle!!!

My mom's terrier/poodle mix has been doing amazing on raw, and since we've hooked the neighbour on raw too! Her Labradoodle was a very picky eater, and now is even asking for food, something that the neighbour explained was very rare!

She has started him on chicken and chicken necks and would like to know what other bones she can feed him besides the necks? (Like legs, etc?)

Does it have to be chicken bone or can it be something else like turkey bone?

Thanks so much!

I would start a big dog on chicken quarters. Unenhanced of course. I think chicken necks are wayyyyy too small and they are a choking hazard for big dogs as they are the same size and shape as the esophagus, so they could theoretically get stuck and cause choking. Much better to feed big. Either chicken quarters (legs and thighs attached) or a whole chicken cut into fourths. The breast and wing attached for one meal, and the chicken quarter for the next, etc.

Once this dog is doing well on whole split chickens, then she can certainly branch into turkey. Some people feel that turkeys have more brittle bones than chickens and some of them can splinter, so have her use her own judgement. Certainly the meat is great.

She can also do pork and beef ribs for bone content as she moves on.
