We tried gluing and taping carpet down inside the doghouse. He just tears it out. But I think Melissa is right. And her idea of cedar shavings is a good one. I think I just worry way too much. lol. He pretty much knows what he needs, and he has a really thick coat and hide.

Dogs are so funny. In their youth, my big dogs would pull everything out of their doghouses. They would sleep in the snow at below zero temperatures. Now as they are much older, and more susceptible to the elements, they seem to understand the concept of a warmly-lined den.

That makes me feel much better. He is huge at 7mo old. And I freak out a lot over the smallest things. Things that I can take care of myself. My husband is always telling me to calm down.

You can only do the best you can (and you are certainly doing more than most) and let Oreo decide for himself. he knows what he needs.

I've always had a dog door, the dogs are free to decide where they want to be. I had a Golden that prefered to lay outside all night on the chaise lounge. She had the opportunity to come in if she wanted, but I think the house was too warm for her. She would come in for dinner and to watch tv, then at bedtime, out she went on her own. She had the choice to come in if it got too cold, but she never did.

You're welcome. I hope it works out for you.
