Default New rescued miniature poodle

My newest and last rescue. We can only have 3 dogs in my city. This is Meadow. Her previous name was Blondie. She is a cream miniature poodle of around 9.5 lbs. She is 1.5 years old and was given to a rescue by her breeder. No reason was given as to why she was given up. She is perfectly healthy as far as the vets can tell. She has perfect knees and hips! She is very athletic and acts like a puppy. This dog is super smart, affectionate, and active. She does need a grooming very badly to give her the regal poodle look. At least she has no knots in her hair, but she looks squinty because of her awful haircut. She will look so different once she is groomed properly. Apparently a 5 lb difference is huge. Venus is right around 4 lbs and Meadow is about 9.5 lbs.

Congrats!
She does make Venus look even tinier than she is!
She must think that your very cozy carpet feels like her!

Does she get along well with venus?
I never knew there is a limit to the number of dogs you can own! Thats strange

She's so cute. There was someone selling tiny poodle puppies in front of Walmart the other day. (Yeah, yeah, I know) He had some beautiful pups. I had a black poodle once, named Fred. And a cock-a-poo, cream with orange ears, named Duffy. Very sweet, smart dogs.

The carpet does feel like her, and I have a blanket that matches her almost exactly. She laid on top of it on the sofa, and I couldn't easily tell which part was her or the fleece blanket.

Venus is actually so much nicer to her than my relatively new Yorkie, Sparrow. Venus didn't like her at first, but now they play together. Sparrow is still not friendly to Meadow, but they don't fight or anything. They haven't played together yet. Venus is the alpha for sure.

The city we used to live in allowed 4 dogs per household. If you're found to have more than the right number of dogs (not including puppies under a certain age), then you will likely be fined. I think cities have limits to help avoid hoarders and pet over population.

Poodles are really smart dogs. I had a white mini poodle when I was in middle school. I had to leave her behind when I moved to live with my mom. I have missed her all this time. I used to paint her nails to match her collar. Her name was Dixie which was given to her by her previous owner.

Black poodles are really pretty. I wanted a darker poodle like a black or a red one, but I've been looking through rescues and shelters for so long for a young, well behaved, healthy, and relatively small female that I decided to forget about the color. She was given up along with a female 13 lb black poodle that was about 4. I decided that size and age was more important than color to me. Besides, now I can dye her hair sometimes or put some stenciled designs on her.

I've always heard poodles were super intelligent and so easily trained. I only knew one in my life, my friend had a very elderly one and she was a bit crotchety so I didn't get the chance to really buddy up with her. He did say though in her prime she was amazing.

Enjoy her, she's pretty!

Thank you LS. I see so many pets and people needing loving homes and this is one way I can help. I want to give a chance to the discarded, unwanted, or simply unlucky. Maybe Meadow's breeder couldn't take care of her dogs anymore because of a family problem, and she was really hoping that somebody could care for them properly. I like to help educate people that with love and attention neglected pets and people can blossom into the most beautiful individuals inside and out.

Meadow seems to fit the bill of an intelligent dog. She is super focused on people and she seems to want to communicate and learn. Venus and Sparrow are also really smart, but they want to do their own thing more than "work". Poodles were originally hunting dogs so they had to work with people a lot more than chis and yorkies.
