Default American Hairless Terrier

Have any of you heard of a breed called American Hairless Terrier? My aunt has been on a breeders waiting list and just got word she will be getting her puppy next week. They are really cute, completely hairless and around 16 lbs or so grown.

Yes they came from a Rat Terrier. They are really nice for someone who has allergies.

Yes, I've heard of them and they're cool dogs! I met one, once, and it totally looked like an oversized, hairless rat terrier. They definitely have that terrier energy and drive!

I never heard about this type of breed. Itís new information for me. I want to know more about this breed. So when your aunt will get this breed, you share the habits, qualities and photos of this breed with all of us. Thanks

AHT's are great little dogs; but definitely *terriers.* They love to chase, play, and like a Chi need exercise to keep them stimulated to avoid some of the NOT so nice behaviors of terriers lol. In informed hands they are very happy, friendly little dogs!!

My aunt's daughter has a "jack rat", a cross between a Jack Russell and a Rat Terrier. She likes the personality and size of that dog. She decided on the AHT because from her research they are very much like her daughter's dog, only without hair. From what you are saying, it sounds like the dog will be what she expects. Se lives in the country and takes lots of walks so I think the little dog will be in a good situation.

Great!! I'm sure an AHT would be perfect, then. Just gotta remember sunscreen or clothing to protect from the sun. I haven't had an AHT but have had hairless Cresteds, and they will sunburn easily outside lol. Keep us posted on your aunt, Terri; I'd love to see pics of the lil guy if everything falls into place! =D
