Well, it was a long weekend. After waiting two weeks, I was able to pickup my beautiful baby, Chanel. When we picked her up Saturday morning and she was much tinier than I expected and soooo scared. She was shaking like a leaf and pooping every couple minutes. I thought it was odd, but attributed it to fear of change.
Over the next three days I stayed with Chanel 24/7, nursing her through constant bouts of hypoglycemia and severe diarrhea. The end of this very sad story is that Chanel passed quietly Monday afternoon. I'm sorry I'm not providing more details, but the pain is very fresh and it's still hard to talk about. I just wanted to share a couple of pictures of her, because she was so beautiful and sweet and fought so hard. I'm very proud of her...
This is Chanel while she was under her heat lamp. She was never able to move around very much so I tried to keep her as comfortable as possible. She was such a sweetheart...
This is Chanel in a rare moment...Skeeter would never get close to her. It was as if he and my Sheltie sensed there was something wrong. They're usually very attentive and interactive with other pups, but they just would not go near Chanel. I was hoping they would nurture and comfort her...make her remember being with her siblings, but to no avail.
I only had three days with Chanel, but I'd been searching long and hard for her and I feel blessed I finally found her. I only wish her short life had been happier...
