4 is a great age for a ratty, he was a lucky boy. Rats certainly pack a lot of personality into their little bodies, they make wonderful companions. I know how much you will miss him xxx

He lived such a long and healthy life, I am very happy about that! He really was a personality too- although when he lived with my females he totally was a push over socially he always had a lot of energy. Typically male rats turn really lazy as they age but he was running on the wheel until the day he died. He had a lot of spunk and didn't like being held but loved having time to run around on me. We will miss him a lot.

I know that I am a bit late in reading this but as another Rattie Mum am sending you lots of love. I had Rats for many years and like you am now having a break from the little guys but miss them. Eggplant sounds like he had the best life and it is truly amazing that he never needed a Vet visit in all that time. There is something about their eyes, shiny as polished seeds and their hearts, so accepting and full of love. I hope you are soon able to enjoy the memories. xx
