Default Bear and Penny

A lady down the street had her 17 year old dog pass this week - lung cancer.
She was so broken up over it...of course.

At the dog park today we ran into our friends Bella and Sadie without their mate Bear, and it turns out he had to be PTS - bone cancer. Horrible week for the owner...tried so hard, but the old boy was struggling so much they had to do it. He was a large black lab, and he was always trekking around the dog park, no matter how slowly he had to walk. Just like Carlos, he was doing what he loved until the end.

Not to diminish their plight at ALL, but I couldn't help but think
how lucky I was that both Poco and Carlos passed away at home.
Congestive heart failure due to old age isn't a picnic, but at least I was spared the awful decision. They never suffered terribly, at least for any length of time, and for that I'm soooo thankful.

R.I.P. Dear Bear, and Dear Penny.
Your pain has ended.

R.I.P sweet friends...
We have faced both the passing at home in my arms and at the vet when it became necessary.. I have to agree with you Alan, I prefer at home when the Lord is ready.
Either way, the hole in your heart aches for such a long, long time.
