Poco - 4 years gone
I love Halloween, but when it's over I'm immediately saddened.
Poco passed on Nov 6th, and the last week was very difficult.
He was such a faithful friend, to the very end.
He spent the previous night at the vets as they wanted to monitor how he was doing, and I always felt he held on until we could say good bye.
He came home on a Monday, had some chicken and lay down next to me on the couch. I told him over and over how much he meant to me
( something I'm so happy to have done ) and stroked him and kissed his head. He passed there beside me.
It was so hard, but I'll always be grateful that he was in his home, with his belly full, and with me to the very end.
He was 14, and it wouldn't have mattered if he were 28, I wasn't ready to lose him.
Never lose sight of the fact that these magnificent creatures will not always be with you. And, don't be afraid to be with them at the end -
that's when they need you more than ever. I hear people say 'Oh I couldn't possibly be there....'
Yes, you can.
Poco's life was beautiful and warm and filled with love,
up to the very last second. As painful as it was, I can't imagine having
to look back and think "if only I'd been brave enough..."
RIP, Poco Pablo Jazzman. I will never forget you, my most true and faithful friend.

That made me well up. :') I'm so glad he passed away at home and with lots of love around him, Alan. It sounds like he was a fabulous pal. Even though we truly never have long enough with them, I'm glad you had those 14 years. xx

Oh, that made me cry, I'm sorry to say that when my Nicki passed, I wasn't brave enough and your right looking back, it was so selfish of me. she needed me and I wasn't there. She wasn't alone, a good friend that she loved was with her, but it should have been me. Still crying.

This made me cry. Poco was so blessed to have somebody by his side til the very end. I know when the day comes for one of my gang I will be right there. It makes me sick to think about this and I know I will be so weak but when that time comes I won't leave their side until I know they have crossed that bridge. It's terrible to think about but I do know how blessed I am that God brought these little monsters into my life and I know they won't be here forever but right now and for the time they are with me I will never take them for granted and I will always know how lucky I am!! Rest In Peace Poco, you were truly loved! The way all dogs should be.

Well I am next to say that your post has me all teary eyed. Knowing what I do about you Alan I have no doubt that Poco had a wonderful life with you right to the very end. You are also right, our beloved pets do deserve to have us with them until they pass over the rainbow bridge. I have stayed with last 4 pets right till the end and although I was crying my eyes out and the feelings of loss will always stay with me, I will never regret my decision to hold and kiss my pets good bye.

Don't want anyone to feel bad for actions of the past !
Just wanted people to realize how important it is to be with them, and remember it when the time comes - -
Here's my angel about a year before he passed.
He is so missed !

He is so handsome Alan! Very very lucky dog to be loved so much! =) That makes me smile when I know a dog leaves this earth knowing he was loved. That makes it all worth it!
