Welcome, the only downside with premade raw can be the bone content, sometimes there is too much bone leading to constipation,it would be better if your friend could feed raw meats and add the bone content,I hope you find your chi and too raw feed,it truly is the only way to feed, karen

I am not sure what my friend will ultimately decide on, but I would be surprised if she does not end up feeding the prey model raw diet. I sure am planning on going that route

I can't wait to get my pup! Just have to hold off until at least after Christmas/New Year, because we work A LOT of overtime during the holiday season.

Default First Time Feeding

Hey everyone, my lil Gucci is 4years old and we just got her from her previous owner about a month ago. She came from a home where she wasn't getting much attention and love but good news is she is with me and my wife and she is loving the love!

I want to start her on the Prey Model so I went over to my butcher and he GAVE (yes free!) me chicken necks and organs! Im saving the organs for now and when i put the chicken neck on her dish she didn't eat it. She tried to cover it up :/.

I tried to her a piece of a cutlet to try and start her off but still the same result. I dnt want to force her to eat raw but i would love it if she did. Any suggestions on how to get her started?

I've started my raw feed today and am trying to follow the Prey Model. My probs is i cant get / cant get enough organ of chicken (here no butcher sells only a particular part of a meat) so can i add goat kidney instead? as other organ are hard to find coz butcher throws them away at the time of slaughtering the goat!!! and they wont keep em for me...

Default Are you considering a raw diet?

A question that prob get asked frequently, is it ok to mix kibble and raw meats together? I kno some of you guys have said that its a myth and that it is ok but Im still iffy about it. Right now my girls eat kibble. Tiny was on raw for a while but i didnt have the time to clean up after each meal. Penny dislikes the texture so I wanted to try to put some raw with her kibble to see if she would eat it. I also think that adding pieces of meat and a chicken wing in with kibble would fit my schedule more (dnt ask me why because I dont want to talk about my daily schedule) so i just wanted your guys opinion and reassurance. Thanks!

I think thats fine just as long as u have 80% meat, 5% organ meat, 5% secreting organ and 10% bone. Your supermarket doesnt sell chicken liver, gizzard, hearts?

Hi Fadhila! I'm glad you are going to try raw. I'm excited for you. I think that once you get the hang of it, you will see how much better it is and you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

Starting with chicken wings is an OK plan. Each dog is different. YOu may want to add in a few bites of chicken meat with the wing though. Too much bone is constipating. Dont' be surprised if you see very tiny stools that are light colored and turn white in the sun. There is no waste or fillers with raw.

There are a lot of great raw feeders here and we will all help you.
