Default Underweight doggie help

I just adopted my second chi yesterday. She's about a year and a half and pretty much skin and bones. I have my first on a raw diet and would like to do the same with the second. Is there anything I can add to it to help gain weight faster? I was planning on starting her on fatty meats like duck, but I don't know of that will be enough. Would a supplement help?

Sorry, I can't help you. Maybe some of the people that feed raw will be able to. Glad you rescued her.

I do not think you want her to gain real fast just feeding her what she needs will put weight on her. My rescued Chi was skin and bones and now she is overweight from feeding her to much lol..

It is wonderful that you took her in! Have you had her checked to see if she has worms? If not I would have her checked. I don't think it would be a good idea to start her off on really fatty stuff as it might be too rich for her little system. Can someone more knowledgeable give some advise?

Hmm. I didn't think of any adverse reactions. I guess too quick would be problematic, but I feel like there should be something that is recommended for this sort of situation. Ill probably just feed her puppy food for awhile and wait to switch her to raw.

I just brought her home last night, so she hasn't seen the vet quite yet. She does have an appointment set for Tuesday though. Hopefully the vet will have good advice, but I tend to not want to listen to vets when it comes to nutrition.

Has she been wormed?
Small frequent meals are the best way to put weight on. I would stick with raw if that is what you intend to feed, but give her 3 or 4 tiny meals a day.
