I have been reading up on this food as I would like to try a raw diet for my little girl when I get her.

It looks great and will be very convenient as I won't have to do anything other than defrost!

I just have a few questions. I have read online that people are calling it expensive? It appears to be extremely cheap compared with some other dog foods at just under £3 per kilo. And when you are only feeding 100g a day it works out at about 30p per day? And is 100g a day for a fully grown chi? What would i feed a 12 week tiny girl?
The link I have posted will be the one that I will probably buy, does it include everything a chi needs? Will i have to add any tripe? Can I offer some kibble between feeds too?

Hi Alex, its great you are thinking about raw!

It certainly does seem that you would only feed upto 100g a day - which would work out, as you said at upto 30p per day. Perhaps the comments about it being expensive are from owners of bigger dogs?

So its 100g for a 4.5kg adult dog (9.9 pounds). For a 5 pound adult dog then, its around 50g - even cheaper!

Puppies need to eat more food, and more often - someone more experienced will be able to tell you how much they need...

Yes the food looks great - you dont need to add tripe but its a nice variety and dogs seem to love it! (mine is the exception to the rule apparently lol!)

You can offer kibble - there is a lot of debate as some say dogs digest raw and kibble differently, so you might get some tummy upsets. For me, i feed Eden (5* kibble), raw and freeze dried raw and dont get any upsets. Honey has a tummy of steel lol!

I would add, nothing beats a good raw meaty bone for your pup to gnaw on! You can get these from your butchers -just set it out and let pup work on it - its great for their teeth! Also, you can mix things up by offering chicken wings, feet etc? Dont forget bully sticks, beef tendons, venison trachea etc too. x

I feed my crew a mixture of Natural Instincts & WolfTucker ( mainly wolftucker)
I also pick up meat/bones etc from local butchers etc

My chi's are all about 2.5kg ( a few are less) they eat about 120grm each a day, my 6 month old lad is on the slim side so he has 150grm a day.
NOTE : they are high energy & get quite a lot of exercise ..

Both Natural instincts & Wolftucker are easy to feed , especially for a new dog owner as look and smell nice.. Also easy to store and nice containers

WolfTucker do different flavours ( chicken & tripe puppy/ beef and tripe puppy/puppy beef)


As for cost - I never really think about it I just feed what I think is best for my angels ..

Chicken feet.. mmm yummy! :S With the chicken wings, how often do you feed these and do you just leave them raw and whole?

Natural instincts do packets of frozen chicken wing tips I also buy those & yes feed them raw they have one each a few times a week.

I personally don't feed any kibble/dry food/ treat biscuits etc

Its up to you - i tend to use the freeze dried to stuff her Kongs/Treat Balls with, or as training treats. You can def leave some out overnight when you first get pup though, as they need regular feeds.

Lol i know, some of the stuff just sounds yucky! I feed the chicken wings whole, they are Honeys favourite! You may need to half them for a little pup.

Chicken wing tips are excellent at sorting out an iffy tummy too - its nearly all bone, so great for diarrhea.
