I'm so glad raw is working so well for Lola

I had Toby on Ziwipeak since there are some reasons I couldn't do prey model raw. It is air dried raw, a complete raw diet in a bag. But... He had chronic diarrhea for months. Nothing wrong with him, per the vet. So I decided to try a kibble. Because he had issues with the Ziwipeak, his fur was falling out and he lost some weight. I put him on Fromm and within a week he was a different dog. Despite my best raw intentions, it just didn't work for him.

I also think that the difference between pedigree, IAMs and purina and something like Fromm, Orijen, and Acana need to be considered. I feed Fromm and Toby is thriving.

My theory is as long as you do the best you can for your dog and the dog does well on it, that's what matters.

I agree I was so happy when I got my mom to switch to blue grain free she was feeding him purina she was told it was good for her dogs coat. This has been a rough week for my older dogs do I was being rude. i am so over tired. My. 11 year old Doxie has genetically loose teeth so tomorrow they are taking all of her teeth put so we will be switching to a pre made see how she does . My other 11 year old Doxie was diagnosed with ivdd one day she just started to lose the ability to use her legs now she has to stay in her crate with no contact or walking. She may become totally paralyzed and lose bowel and bladder control. I am now wondering if the bones may work her neck and back to much maybe pre made os the way to go. Do people using pre made find their teeth stay clean? I tell you it has been quite a few days.

Whoa! Didnt know my thread can turn into a little debate here!

My chi has been on some sort of raw since I started her on ZP/raw and never had tummy problems when I transistioned her to 100% raw.

Anyway, I have tried to sear, freeze, chopped up and mix the organ in the meat, but no go.

I think another problem is the salmon oil, I even got the low odor one and she doesnt even touch the food when I put it in there. Is fish oil less smelly compared to the salmon oil? Is there anything else that I can give that contain omega-3s? Any other way to give her oil w/o putting in food?

I also bought some Stella & Chewy's freezed dried duck duck goose last week and she ate it for 2 days and wont touch it on day 3

I been putting things back in the fridge since she wont eat it, and she's really stubborn and still refuse when I know she havent eaten for a whole day. I just think it's strange that she just became picky when I started PMR.

I have found the most heated debates happen with discussions on food. My dogs will not touch anything with salmon oil on it. I have found since switching their coats are so glossy that I do not supplement with omega three. As far as organs there are dogs who will not accept them. Maybe supplement withe the pre made or freeze dried that way it is not like giving it straight? When you start feeding fish you will get a lot of omega three from things like sardines. Have you given pork a try my dogs love it or duck necks? Those are two faves with my dogs. They like beef heart too.

I am sorry that your dogs are having health issues.
Jaxx gets Ziwipeak (pre-made raw) and I have never seen his teeth cleaner. He still gets his teeth brushed by me regularly (okay he chews on the toothbrush and I try to brush his teeth while he chews but we are working on it.) Jaxx doesn't have doggy breath and his skin and coat look awesome. Ziwipeak looks like little pieces of jerky.

She's a fish hater...lol. She wont eat any fish at all. She smells any kind of fish and she wont even try her food, except she ate cooked (boiled) catfish, just once. She eats chicken necks and she eats pork. I gave a chicken foot to try last week and she loved it. I havent gave her any kind of turkey yet. Right now I cant stuff my freezer because we are planning to move and she has to eat what she has which is basically: chicken, pork and beef. It's annoying because I wanted to buy some lamb for her to eat the other day. I like the salmon oil because her coat is soooooo soft.

Is canned tuna ok to feed her? I havent tried that yet.

My dogs hate fish except fit daisy she ate some sardines them proceeded to vomit all night. It was disgusting it will be a long time before I try they again. I wondered if it kept the teeth as clean because they are not working the teeth by chewing the bones. I don't think canned tuna is an option because it I'd cooked but I don't know. I think alot if dogs don't like fish.

I dehydrate all my liver & kidney because my dogs won't touch it raw - once dehydrated, they absolutely go mad for it! The dehydration process does not kill off any of the goodness.
