Usually a moderator will PM you and ask if you're interested in being a mod and then it will be discussed with Mia. Mods look for members who are long term members who post regularly, are well behaved and fair and who aren't biased If you are interested in modding you can PM one of the mods and let them know you're interested but that doesn't mean you will become a mod, not for personal reasons but they may not need a new mod during that time.

Yeah thanks Katie that pretty much sums it up.
The most important selection criteria is being unbiased and you have to be really good a biting your tongue and you do have to be thick skinned as unfortunately some problem members choose to make a mods life harder by criticising or not treating them with respect. People can actually react quite rudely so its not an easy job, but its a job that helps keep chipeople going so an important one, so I'm very thankful to anyone past and present who takes it on as it helps keep this place running.

Most of the time even if we need a new mod we will have had people we think might be good in mind that we have been watching, and when the time comes we pm them to see if they would be interested.
