I have just one last thought on the issue...Enforceability.
In all fairness, there must be a way to enforce any new guidelines.
Ideally, when you create a members signature, the software would prevent
you from exceeding the forum limitations.

For the most part, we will be able to do this. There is one thing we cannot control by the software but we will be monitoring very closely.

I think the siggy's are cute and I love mine, but they aren't that important to me, so no strong feelings there

I do think too much under a post, is unnecessary and it just makes it longer to scroll down. It's hard to imagine why anyone would leave because of a siggy ???

I am sure it can all be sorted

I don't know about this forum, but most limits are set by # of characters permitted in the siggy. A lot of forums are set at 400 characters. You can either type something with 400 characters OR post images that will fit in the allowable area. I don't understand exactly how it works, I just know it does.

We can limit the number of characters in the siggy area which is strictly for typing characters (i.e. letters, numbers, etc.). We can also limit the maximum space of attachments (i.e. images for banners) in a signature which is where the gist of this thread is coming from.

lol not sure Barb. I even went and did a search on it and couldn't find anything. I had a forum on proboards at one time, and admin on another. They are both set for the 400 characters. When you put an image in, it will show you how many characters you've used. It may be something to do with px or binary. *shrugs*

Thank you for your clarification Chi.
