Default Help Wanted: Guidelines for Signatures

Hello everyone,

Yung here. Hope you all had a wonderful holidays and a great start to your new year.

This thread is going to address the on-going issues we have experienced with users adding an image/graphic as a signature. We have tried to manage this situation as best we can and now, we feel the timing is right to get some feedback from the community as to what you would like to see with signatures.

The mods and I will discuss your suggestions and add our own and see if we can come up with a new set of guidelines for everyone to abide by.

Please use the following to guide your posting in this thread:

1. This thread is not meant to air out your grievances about another users' siggy or the current guidelines. If you have thoughts about that, send me a PM.

2. The goal is to try to come up with a set of guidelines that the majority of people can live with. We understand that we cannot please everyone.

3. Everyone is expected to adhere to whatever new guidelines we set out. I and the mod team will be monitoring this closely as we have received many PMs from the community expressing their concerns about signatures getting out of hand.

Thank you for your feedback and let's have a good discussion about this!!!

I understand the need to limit height to approx 200 so that people with slower internet don't have to wait a long time to scroll... On the other hand, when people add tickers, that height is much greater. I would like to see an overall height limitation on the entire signature area--and let people put whatever they want in that space. For example, if I don't use a ticker, I can use a bigger siggy pic.

I know there have been many hurt feelings on the subject of siggy's. I hope you get this resolved to member's satisfaction. Some have left Chi Ppl over this issue

I second Jerry's Mom on that, basically give everyone a size their sig can be and if they add tickers then that takes the space up and siggies must be made smaller to fit in the allowed size, but if you don't have a ticker you can have a siggy the whole size allowed

I understand the hight issue for scrolling but I personally think that allowing a little more size length ways might be nice, a lot of people have more then one pet, and showing them off in a sig only 500 pixels length can be a little hard.

Just my thoughts

The siggys is a touchy subject. Especially for me. Since Im a person that makes very detailed siggys. I think the size is fine or bigger would be nice too.

But I dont want to step on any toes. But limit URLS and PitaPata in a persons Signature Area. Than the acutally siggys themself.

I know I speak for myself, and it takes me alot long to scroll down the page when somebody has a siggy, a couple pitapata(Tickers) and then urls as well. Now if we keep to an image and maybe 1 url. Its not so bad. As you see in my siggy. The 1 images are together and a good size. and one small url.

This matter is a touchy one, and I hate to see it go where the image size is lowered. Since I worked so hard on my siggys and smaller is hard to work with. As I know first hand, since I make the blinkee's every month for the contests. And making a 150x150 image and making it move. Is such a challenge to me.

So Size is good! But less Pita Pata/Tickers and Urls. Is what I think would solve the problem.

BTW - just one ticker/pita pata is 80 pixels tall. If someone has three of them, that's 240 pixels in height... more than allowed for one siggy pic.

(just an example; I am not talking about any particular member)

I don't think a lot of people read this section; but I hope more Chi Ppl will give feedback
so new rules will consider their choices too.
