Lightbulb Action against non senders

I was thinking with these s.s, s.v, s.b etc if a member doesn't send out their gift then they would have to miss the next secret gift/event.
Or name and shame them
I know when you enter it then there is a risk that you wont recieve something but I do think it's unfair if you have sent one and you don't get one back.

I'm not sure if any one thinks it's a good idea. Maybe it's just I'm a little sad that Charlie didn't get his S.V even after the person said they would send it.

What do you think?

well that would be down to the person that organises the exchange...they are not run by the forum or moderators

I really think too that it goes against the spirit of the exchange, sometimes a parcel can get lost in the post or broken open as happened to Amanda's gift. That is out of control of the sender.

Sometimes a parcel is delivered late, at Christmas some parcels arrived late and it caused great consternation, and some of the senders must have felt awful.

It would be dreadful to name someone and lose a member over all of this.

As Chloe said, the exchange has absolutely nothing to do with the mods or admin of this forum.

If it is seen to be causing problems amongst members it is possible that it may not be held again.

I know that when you send a gift/package International that there is always a chance it won't get there. I sent Marley's Mom a necklace before Christmas, and as far as I know it never got there. I have never had any problems with it before, but I'm guessing in the Holiday shuffle it got lost. Her package to me never arrived either. This wasn't for a board exchange, it was a personal exchange. Anyway, there is always that chance, unfortunately.

However, with the board exchanges, I think if any member signs up and deliberately doesn't send out a gift, they shouldn't be allowed to participate again. That is just my opinion. It isn't fair to anyone to not get their gift, and if it upsets the person that didn't send out a gift, oh well. I'm not trying to be rude, but if you can't follow through, don't sign up. The exchanges that so many enjoy doing shouldn’t be allowed to be ruined because of one or two people not doing what they committed themselves to do. I'm not referring to delayed packages that are completely out of anyone's control other than the Post Office. If the gift is sent out, that's all the person can do. Just keep your Postal receipt should you need verification.

I always get a tracking # when I mail a package out. I do agree with what Jane said, I think it would ruin the spirit of the exchange.. I do feel bad for those that did not get their gifts. I tend to shy away from the exchanges for this very reason. I have been the one not recieving (not on here) and I know how it feels when you go to great trouble and put thoughts into what a get someone then you get nothing...unfortunately that is one of the risks of signing up....

I think it would be very hard to know for sure who has really sent a package or not so to shame someone is uncalled for. I am sure there have already been some hurt feelings of people that sent packages that made it there much later than it should have. Then members are posting about not receiving them, I can understand making a comment like Who ever my secret person is, my package hasnt arrived should I be worried? Then giving them time to respond through someone else to keep the secret maybe but I think that some of the ways it is being handled would be hurtful. If you stop and put yourselves in their shoes then how would that make you feel as it wasnt their fault that the postal services screwed up. Just something to think about guys

Part of the rules are to acknowledge that it's possible you will not receive a gift.
Happened to us at Christmas... it's the chance you take, or you can choose not
to participate.

I really really wanted to get involved in the next exchange. But because i do live in Australia i am a bit worried about if it would make it to the recieving chi. If it is an honest mix up etc i think it is just that but if a person signs up for the exchange and doesn't send a gift then maybe they should miss out on the next exchange and for repeat offenders they have the right to get involved taken away. Maybe just a suggestion.
