1st Avatar--Help pls!

trying to upload my 1st avatar from my Iphoto. How do I get the pic small enough? I took the pic with my Iphone and when looking at stats Iphoto say's it's 2MB. I am really computer illiterate and have no idea what to do

I am having such fun on this site and want to share pic's of my "babies" too
