Yeah, it is important they check blood sugar.

I had a Miniature Pinscher. She passed away at 15 years of age back in February of this year. She was a long-time, insulin-dependent diabetic who had a VERY severe case of pancreatitis - it nearly killed her. And that is not a dramatic, exaggerated statement. She was on IV and IV injected narcotics for five days and then spent another week recuperating in her crate because she was so weak. It took her months to fully recover.

Needless to say, I have some experience with pancreatitis, diabetes etc, in dogs.

Point is, they are often linked...diabetes and pancreatitis.

Also some things to avoid a pancreatitis reoccurrence are.....NO pork. NONE! And very, very low fat diet. After my Bella got pancreatitis I ensured her food was extremely low fat. I fed her a home-made diet of chicken, rice, and veggies with some fruits occasionally thrown in. Once I became severely strict with her diet, with regard to fat, she never had another bout of pancreatitis.

Anyway, just some things to think about to help your poor little one.
