I would stick with a proper breeder, honestly, because although an internet ad may seem tempting you'll more than likely be overcharged these days.

The benefits of going with a breeder are endless, and I would definitely go on a list for my next Chi.

I hope you find something soon, in London you've got far more choice than up here! Good luck!

Default bringing in a puppy from belgium???

Unfortunetly it seems like most breeders in London breed long hairs and I want a smooth coat. Do you know how to bring in a puppy from belgium. AS it is in EU is it easier to bring a puppy in than from the US or is it the same cringing process?

same process I believe due to our quarentine laws and the need for a pet passport so you wouldnt get the pup till it was over 6 months I know you can export out but not sure if importing in can be done as easily, it can also be a very costly process with passports and rabies vaccinations etc. There are a lot of good smooth-coat breeders in the UK, have you contacted the British Chihuahua club and Kennel club for lists of breeders. I highly recommend going on a waiting list then you get the dog you want and the wait if worth it. good luck

edit to add: Crufts is in 2 weeks (in birmingham but it's worth the trip) and you can speak to breeders there see the dogs and get some information from the discover dogs breed stand

I think importing isn't such a bad idea at all. Bringing new blood to the country is always a good idea . I'm sure breeders in UK import at one point or else all British Chihuahuas would be related by now.
It's not such a problem really. If you contact a good breeder that will get all the papers and blood tests sorted it's not a problem. The dog will be a bit older, but worth waiting for....

I think if I was to import a Chi, it'd be an already grown up Chi that I would intend to breed someday.

I wouldn't put a young puppy through 6 months quarantine, no way.
