Sorry to bring this sort of thing up, but I had to vent a little. I was looking at the infamous "banned site" earlier and came across a 7month old male chi with no papers at all needing a new home. The person is selling him because he/she bought him 3 weeks ago to breed with their female miniature pinscher but sadly (not so sadly in my opinion) the min pin does not like him at all.
If someone knows this person or this person is a member on here, they really need an educated read up on responsible ownership. This person clearly is not knowledgeable enough to own never mind breed any dog. Because of this person's lack of responsibility, this dog will now go through the trauma of being rehomed at 7 months old. I honestly believe that dogs do not just adapt to being moved between owners, it definitely affects them at some level.
That kind of attitude to breeding really grates on me, there are so many cross dogs and puppies in the pounds and rescue shelters that struggle to get homes. People like this are deliberately crossing two different breeds to make a profit because they think it's cute.
I honestly feel that this sort of thing will increase because of the designer dogs that are becoming so popular, people are catching on to the cute names they can make up by crossing two breeds. I realise the benefits of dogs like the cockapoo (cocker spaniel x poodle) for people who have allergies, but why not just buy a pedigree poodle? I know there's not much choice for people with allergies but at the same time, there are lots of people now breeding any two dogs that don't even have any benefits for people with allergies! A person I know through a friend recently bought a Jack Russel x Cocker Spaniel for £200, this is not a lot compared to Chi prices but you could easily find a dog like this at the rescue centre for the donation fee of £70! £200 per puppy from these "breeders" makes them a lot of money, especially for a dog that's not going to aid anyone with an allergy. It's an animal that I'm sure will bring a lot of love and happiness, but it's still also a cross being sold for a lot of money
The chi in the ad is a lovely looking dog, i'd give him a home in a minute if i could just to make sure the person doesn't succeed in their stupid quest.
I don't want this to end up a locked thread, so please don't think I'm stirring up trouble. I just had to share my frustration with people who care about the welfare of their dogs as much as I do. This kind of thing sickens me.
