Default Help! first heat!

So this morning Millie came into her first heat. I feel like a proud mamma haha
She's not little mills anymore she's a big girl! Since Millie is my first chihuahua just wondered if your chis act any different when in heat?
Is it similar to humans like the change in attitude? Or will it hardly affect Millie?
Obviously I know to make sure to keep her away from male dogs during this period. I just wondered if there's anything less obvious that I should be doing?

Here is some photos of my Millie!

They vary, some get more clingy and want more cuddles and reassuring, some get quite grumpy. They often go off their food. Their interactions with other dogs can be entirely different too, even dogs they normally get on with can react very differently to a bitch in season. So supervise carefully if she is with other dogs (of either gender, even neutered animals are affected by the season hormones.
I generally try and walk my girls on lead during the first and third weeks, in quiet places where they are unlikely to meet strange dogs, but I don't take them out at all during the fertile period

This morning she has been clingy, I put her into her room to play with her toys whilst I cooked breakfast and she cried and she never ever does this! So she must of just wanted some company bless her. How long does it usually last, is it three weeks?

Roughly three weeks, they are fertile after the first week (ovulation is around day 12) but dogs will still want to mate her after the fertile time has passed.

Jewel just went though her first cycle late June to early July. I noticed it coming on for about a week. She was mopey....not energetic and her "lady part" was noticeably swollen. About 3-4 days later she began spotting. The spotting was very minimal but I did keep panties on her...which she learned to take off. She only spotted (first red and then clear) for 4-5 days but her lady part REALLY a swelled and her nipples as well. She became very interested in my male and he eventually became interested in her smells (he is neutered though...dirty old man). She barked a lot too, which she doesn't do typically. It did last right around three weeks and she is back to herself. All my others are altered but the one drawback of showing is you can't alter them!
