Default Sweaters for babies??

Hi all

It's definitely fall here in Northern BC, Canada! It's getting kinda chilly out! We are having a heck of a time finding sweaters small enough for baby Harleigh! We have made her a few little sweaters out of fuzzy girls socks from the dollar store (thank you Pinterest!) but I would love to find her some fleecy sweaters and maybe a parka for fall/winter. Any suggestions? She is 9 1/2 weeks old, just under 2 lbs, and her back length is about 8 inches, shoulder to base of tail, and her girth is 10 inches ( with a belly full!)

I'm not good with crochet hook, knitting needles or a sewing machine, but I could probably convince my mom to help make a sweater if I bought some fleece and had a pattern.

Any suggestions?

Those measurements don't sound right lol. The way she looks in your hand, no way is she 8" long. My 2 yr old 3.6 lb chi is exactly 8" long and just over 11 inch chest. When measuring a dog, the head must be held straight up and tail raised straight up. Then measure with a soft sided measuring tape. If your dog is slouching even one bit, you will get a longer length. And a smaller chest.

The socks look nice. What a good idea. Skippy was that size last winter and the xxs sweaters that I bought on Amazon fit well.

I'm looking for ideas for a warm coat for him for this winter, too.

We also used socks for our pups. One fall, we were at camp gone to the dogs in Vermont, and it turned really cold. There was a camping store next door, and we bought a pair of fleece socks. Cut them down, like you did, and they worked very well. I suppose you could layer a pair of cotton sock, and a fleece sock for more heat!
