Default 💤🌙Have you ever caught your dog dreaming?

Kendall was asleep next to me when I was awakened by the sound of whimpering and the feeling of leg twitching into my side. I thought I was dreaming myself lol. What I thought would last only a few seconds, went on for about a minute. She was sort of barking under her breathe and seemed really distressed so I rubbed her gently to get her out of it... Because it kind of concerned me. Well I guess it's totally natural according to this article I just read. I know now that it's totally normal and not to disturb her next time. Has anyone here had any experience with your dog/dogs dreaming? I'd love to hear your stories. Oh and here's the article:

yes, Tootsie dreams all the time and I love listening to the cutest sounds she makes. when i'm watching TV and I hear her start with the cute dreaming sounds, I actually turn the tv down so I can hear her better. she kind of twitches her legs too while she's making the cute sounds.
I don't think I ever heard any of the other dogs do this, but Tootsie ... all the time

Glad to know I'm not alone in my experience with this the other night. I felt so bad for her cause she was whimpering and breathing heavy. But I know now that it's totally normal for dogs to dream. This article states that dog and human dream wave patterns are very similar. Like you, I haven't heard any of my other dogs dream either.

OMG one of my favourite things that Tink does! You can tell when she's dreaming...first she gets a bit twitchy, nothing drastic but her nose, lips, feet will start to twitch. If I'm REALLY lucky, she does this super uber ridiculously adorable little tiny "woof" almost under her breath...it almost sounds like she's trying to do a fish impression (you know, "blup"). She hasn't done it in quite a while now, and I miss it! When she does it, I stop everything - don't move, mute the TV, whatever - and just listen to her while she does it. Love!

A few weeks ago Finley woke me up in the middle of the night. He was sleeping next to me in his usual spot, curled up against my side, and he started puppy hyperventilating. Never had any of my dogs do that before! Sounded EXACTLY like my hubby does when he has a bad dream about ghosts and starts hyperventilating in his sleep lol. Made me think he might be having a little puppy nightmare rather than a dream, so I gently put my hand on him and gave him a soft rub or two...didn't wake him, but settled him right down

Awe lol..the under breathe woof sounds so cute. I have caught mine twitch here and there when sleeping but never full on dream like Kendall had. Actually the way you described Finley's dream was much like Kendall's. And same thing...I just rubbed her gently to help her settle down. As during the dreaming process she was pawing me in my side lol. I take it she was running from or after something in her dream, like maybe the nutty human like squirrels we have running around here lol.
