I'm surprised your vet didn't advise waiting to do the microchip until you had him neutered -if you are. My vet said that because chi's are so small and the needle for the chip is larger than the usual vaccination it was better to wait and have it done while he was being neutered and still under anesthesia. So that's what we did.
Aww poor Charlie! Thankfully none of ours are screamers or I'd probably have a meltdown every time they had to get poked!
I'd ask your vet about the microchip at his neuter thing as well (unless you don't plan to neuter him or simply want to get him chipped ASAP). Ou r vet does it at spay/neuter time as well. It is definitely a larger syringe and while most dogs never notice, a tiny Chi pup no doubt would!
Archie yelped when he had both vaccinations, then trembled in fear. Wouldn't even eat a treat afterwards, just wanted to be near me.
Now the microchip was a whole other level!!! Mainly because I have a phobia of needles and this thing was huge!!! I had to hold him which he decided was a great idea to have his face near mine, yelped a lot near my ear. I swear I have tinnitus in 1 ear because of that now.
But I get the vet to give him a treat afterwards so Archie associates them as a good thing rather than a person that sticks needles in him and pokes around all the time
Aww poor thing! At least the microchip is done very quickly so it'll be over in no time. I know what you mean though, my Lilo did a very loud (and long) scream of death when she had her last vaccination and it was so sad to see her like that. :/
