We had a strange event the other day. I was preparing to go out so I left Hatchi (pom) and Tia (Chi) out to go to the bathroom. they normally go in the back yard but this time I let them out the front (they know and like the front yard) well some joggers ran buy across the street and the dogs were barking. I was putting my shoes on so I didn't run to shush them but then I heard screaming like pain or fear and tia came running into the house and dove into her kennel trembling. I went to pick her up and she was screaming the whole time no matter where I touched her. I called the vet and was going to take her in I was afraid she had been hurt but I was not in a position to see what had happened to her. I popped her in the car drove to pick my husband up at work and then was driving to the vet. By this time she was calm. we could touch her all over and she didn't yell. Her bones and muscles all felt fine and she was happy and smiling. She had taken her fluoxetine (Prozac) pill the night before so she should not have had any problems but it was almost like an anxiety attack or something. I am sure no one will have any answers but it is bugging me enough to post and see if anyone has had similar. Tia is from a backyard breeder/hoarder rescue and she was pretty badly abused by what we can see. So it could have been some kind of emotional attack. Hatchi runs the fence when someone is near the yard but I cant see that scaring her and she loves everyone so the runners should not have scared her. I don't see any evidence of a bee sting.. I am at a loss.

something/someone scared the begeebers out of Tia. She reacted with the panic behavior (screaming) that she does. I think that the crate is her 'safe' place, and next time this happens (Lord forbid) that I would leave her alone. Maybe a little Rescue Remedy in the mouth and some cuddling will help. Scary for you to watch and hear. We want so much to comfort them, but sometimes just holding them will work.

My 3 yr old chi, Bonnie, has a collapsted trachea and rarely, she will get a panic reaction when she eats. I just pick her up, and talk softly to her and rub her back. In about 4-5 minutes she is OK.
