Default I don't know what to think

Hi folks. I am the caretaker to my roommate who is having chemo and radiation for pancreatic cancer. She is doing very well.

The other day a lady came in with a patient for chemo. She had a 6 week old yorkie puppy in a carrier. I asked if I could see her. She was pure white! Then to my surprise the lady took her out of the carrier and put her on the floor. ( I had not asked to hold her) The puppy scampered around and then the patient was called into the chemo room. The lady just walked away and called the puppy who finally did follow them. I was somewhat dismayed that the lady would let a 6 week old baby walk around a cancer treatment center. Obviously not a therapy dog. What do you all think? I didn't say anything to her.

I would've said something to her.Puppies are like babies they sniff things, taste things ect. I also would have picked the dog up. Some people just don't think about what they're doing & that lady is a good example of that.

Six weeks is so young to be out like that especially given where you saw her. I am very surprised they allowed that there at all. Pure white, that is really odd I have never seen a pure white yorkie and almost all my friends have yorkies they are popular where I live. Did it have long hair? or red eyes as if albino? I'd hate to think she was conned but she must not have done any research for the breed at all. Letting a six week old puppy wonder around a doctor's office like that is incredibly irresponsible maybe she wasn't thinking clearly bbc she was so excited to have a new puppy not that that excuses it but it may have caused a lapse of bad judgment.

When I asked her where she got it so young, she replied that "I got it from a family member". I think she had a brain in her backside, to put it mildly! Oh well, hopefully when they got into the chemo unit, they made her pick it up and put it in her carrier.

Yea I'm sure they did our cancer unit has its own building its right next to the hospital and there's another around the corner from the hospital I cant imagine the words I'd get if I let a dog regardless how small out walk around the building i wouldn't be so brazen though I sure wish I could bring Padme everywhere with me that's safe but I wouldn't try. Yea she doesn't sound so bright lol if it's from family why wouldnt they just keep it another couple weeks for her safety. sad how people can be so careless when it comes to the health of animals. Padme would have been better off a couple more weeks with her mother as well she was far too young and if they would have let me she would have waited I'm not sure why they demanded the puppies be gone right then especially considering they could have been two weeks younger than I thought. some people just care about themselves more than the well-being of animals to me she's my daughter a furry one but thats how I see it i tell the kids she's their sister they agree lol.

Probably a Biewer with high spotting. They are in the AKC Foundation Stock Service: http://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/biewer-terrier/

This baby looked like a yorkie. Just pure white. Obviously not deaf. Wish I could have talked with the people longer, but they were called into the chemo suite. (this was in the waiting room, although the puppy followed them into the chemo suite. I couldn't see if the people IN the chemo room asked them to pick her up.
