Default Hot, hot, hot

Hi folks. Do you walk or exercise your dog in this extreme heat? Mine do not go out, so its not so much for them, but I wonder about you all do?

On the side, my siamese cat got out Tues night and came back last night at 2 am.! I was SO worried that she had been 'caught' by another animal, as I have a wooded area that has some 'critters' in. She is VERY tired, and cranky. Poor Zarita walked by her, and she swatted her. Zarita was not amused and snarled back at her. I was worried too, about having the cat outside in this heat. There is a pond, but I doubt Jazz would go near it.

The heat has been insane here lately, so Cuddles and the other dogs have not been as exercised as they should be. I'm trying to figure out a way to get her exercised and out without being in this crazy weather. We might go to Petsmart on the weekend or another pet store. This summer has been such a disappointment. I usually love the summer, but this heat has been too much. Maybe we'll get more walks in when fall is here.
It doesn't help that she hates swimming, so that's not even an option .

You could use a flashlight or laser light (for cats) if you don't worry about them getting really 'hooked' on every thing that looks like a light! Our sheltie got crazy, so we had to stop with the laser light. Great exercise and inside too!

I tend to not take mine out when it gets really hot and humid, as it does here in the South. They get more than enough exercise doing zoomies around the room for a little while. And getting them to start is as simple as clapping my hands and running for a few seconds myself.

Not in this awful heat. Lots of 'fetch' in the house. Mickey doesn't even want to go in the yard for potties.

We go in the evening when it is cooling down. One of my dogs likes water so sometimes we go to the river and swim.

My service dog gets a lot of exercise doing her job...and she has to work no matter how hot. She wears boots in the heat and I pour water on her.
