Default fireworks and dogs

Hi folks. I'm gonna vent, so please be prepared!! I'm SICK AND TIRED of fireworks that are ILLEGAL in Illinois! I'm not talking about the little booms. The M-80s that shake the house is what I'm talking about. Even the very deaf Sheltie immediately can 'feel' them. Where are the police? I doubt that anyone even calls them. Dam! I feel that all the things I do, have no difference to the dogs. I know that people 'feel' that the louder the boom is, the better! The chihuahuas are all walking around waiting for the next big boom. I'm gonna put them in their pens early tonight. Thanks for listening. Any ideas??

They are legal here in Georgia and they take advantage of it, the past 3 days in my neighborhood they have been setting them off and I mean all hours of the night. One night/morning they started at 1am and went on for a whole hour. Thankfully that time Angel was sleep in her pen and didn't wake up or at least whine and cry in fear. However, last night and tonight they started early and have/went on for hours, today they started 2 hours ago and have been going off and on all evening. Now it's really getting started to get "crunk" and it sounds like they are coming from several directions. Angel has been having a fit, trying to find somewhere to hide, whining and crying and it has me on edge. I wish they hadn't made them legal here!!!!

We are in Georgia as well.. and it has been going on for two nights here. My boys aren't overly upset, but our girl, Snow, has been in a trembling panic! Makes me furious! Snow is very afraid during thunderstorms, and this is even worse. We have meds when the thunder is really bad, but I refuse to medicate her for two solid days.

Angel isn't a big fan of thunderstorms either, she's usually good if she is sitting next to be on the couch or in her bed on the floor. But the fireworks, OMG, whining, crying, shaking and running trying to find places to hide. I had her sit next to me on the floor in her bed and she was shaking hard, I tried to remain calm and not get overly excited to help her. I turned the TV up, put on some music turned that up and she calmed down a little. But I was getting frustrated because with the fireworks, loud TV and music my head started hurting and I already wasn't feeling well (allergies). On top of that, the air in my house has been going in and out the past 2 days (last night it went out again), so I couldn't open the windows with the fireworks going on because that would've magnified the sound. So a extra warm house (even with all the ceiling fans going), scared doggy, sick mommy and a war zone (with the fireworks) outside, my night wasn't a good one!! My son was enjoying the fireworks, lol but me and Angel not so much!!

I'm very sympathetic to all of you. Wanna' bet that tonight they will continue??? Here, they seem to think 'only a few' won't hurt! It certainly won't be as bad as yesterday, but any fireworks are too much!

They have been off since July 1st and they are big and make alot of noise (big booms)
And I'm sure there is more going off tonight
Sunshine literally kept her head down the entire time in her crate completely shaking and refused to eat dinner
Jojo ate a bit breakfast and no dinner yesterday he was terrified. I thought he was sick but he was just that scared of the noises. Thankfully he ate all his breakfast today. He also was biting the door of the crate (I have no clue why especially since he was inside the house)
Buddy Bear broke a nail from scratching the door since I was not aware they had started which I know it's my fault but still frustrating.

Not fireworks related but Jr has learned to open his kennel to get out. Which is not cool :/

Default A little late to the party but have to join the 'rant'

We lived in fl. Two years ago we had our rv on the lake and the chis loved it. However, fourth of July brought some kids and young adults with their fireworks....in the pouring rain for crying out loud! From ten to midnight before we left for work, the babies were literally shaking and it felt like they idiots were inside the rv. We complained loudly-legal and allowed to be stupid there. Last year we were in Fl but a home in a neighborhood with a lake and again the same. Not as loud but still scared the babies horribly. My husband and I stayed in bed with the chis the whole time to make them feel better.

This past year we moved to Niagara Falls. We bought a home and found out that the falls has a beautiful fireworks show all summer and weekends on holidays lol. Not moving for that but we did add a sort of tranquility room for the pets (cats and chis). You can hear the fireworks at our home but not like it's in the house (we're about 26 blocks away from the border). They still shake but are getting a little bit better with them and they don't shake every time. The finale is still a bit tough but we found a great bunch of 'pet whisperer' music on google play that really helps out the little one. She gets it the worst.

Just as bad with the tropical storms but luckily they aren't so bad in wny like they were in Fl.
