Default Piper

Tomorrow will mark two weeks since Piper finally joined our family, and things have been going so much better than expected with assimilating her into our "pack". I was SOOOO concerned about how Finley in particular would do with the new addition, since he has had dog aggression issues for about the last two and a half years - which we have been working on, and he has been making progress on for sure; he's much better now at almost 3 years old, but still...actually having a new dog come live with us was going to be a challenge. But even right from the start he was so much better with her than I could have dared to even hope he might be. He had a couple melt down moments in the first couple days, but calmed down quickly and was no where near as aggressive with her as I expected. And after just two days, he discovered that she was happy to chase him as he ran in turbo mode around the back yard - and that was the start of a wonderous friendship lol. She has managed to coax Fin, Tink and Gizmo all into playing with her on a regular basis...naturally, they're not always as into playing as she is, so don't always cooperate. But they do sometimes, and it's the cutest thing ever and makes me happy as a clam. We've just started crate training while hubby and I are at work the last three days (I took the first 10 days off when she came home to help with the transition)...THAT isn't going as well as hoped, and is stressing me and her out, so I have to keep reminding myself that its for the best and a necessary evil and she will get used to it over time...and in 6 months or so, she won't even need to be crated and it will be a distant memory. Anyway, here's my FAVOURITE photo of her so far, and a couple videos of her and Finley playing - please excuse the stupid human chitchat in the background lol.

Oh how adorable. Makes me wish for another chi! Emmie has CHF and is coughing, so I'm hoping I have more time with her. She is only 10. A lot of her coughing has to do with barking first---I don't know if the coughing is from the trachea problem or not?

Yay!! I'm so glad they are all getting along!
She is absolutely beautiful!!! The name Piper seems to fit her well.
Is she having a hard time with crate training? Or is it just killing you (not literally) to leave her in a crate when your not home?

Totally not related but I saw your 2 videos and I see your wall is green. When I was about 13 I also had my bedroom walls green lol parents didn't like it but I loved it 🙂 Also love your bed comforter. Alright I'm done being nosy lol 😉

Haha thanks! I absolutely LOVE my lime green room...I'm a fan of bright, obnoxious colours. My workout room is "flamingo pink" lol.

With the boys when they were crate training, naturally they'd throw a fuss and cry their little hearts out for the first while. But as far as I can recall, whenever we'd get home they would stop crying and wailing as soon as we let them out of the crate when we get home. Piper, on the other hand, seems determined to make me feel as horrible about it as possible. I let her out, and she continues to have a mental breakdown for the next five minutes. Totally looses her ****, keeps crying and howling at the top of her sad little lungs, whining and freaking out. I take her outside for a potty right away and she just sits out there crying for a few minutes...then seems to figure out I'm back and she's free and let's move on. Breaks my heart

Aww no, hope she's feeling better soon. So stressful and upsetting whenever one of the fur kids isn't feeling well

That's pretty awesome! (Flamingo pink room) My room is now gray which I really love with turquoise curtains/comforter.

I honestly have never heard/ had a puppy do that. It sounds almost if she gets "stuck" mentally. When she does it does she "ask" for attention towards you or the other dogs? Or does she literally freak out on her own?

I'm sorry to hear that Susan.
I think that it would be that her coughing is getting worse because of her trachea problem. But maybe you can call/bring it up to your vet. Especially since you have a good relationship with them.

Nope, she wants me, me, all me. Won't leave my side, tries to climb her way up to the top of my head while she's crying away.
