Default Taquito update

So Taquito has been home almost a year now and he’s doing great.
He still goes to doggie day care once a week and he loves playing with his golden retrievers.
He now loves Greenies, raw chicken wings, and chewing on hooves. I’m determined to keep him using his teeth on hard things to keep him from losing any others.
I’m assuming he’s nine years old now. I’ve figured out how to keep him interested in his food - I rotate two kinds of canned foods that I mix with his kibble. That gets him eating fine.
Some pics. The one in hi s little nest is funny because it’s the spot he first picked when he got home.

Love a success story.. He looks healthy and happy; thank you so much for providing a forever home to a little guy in need.

He’s a really cool little dude. ❤️❤️
I’ve only had large dogs so this was a learning experience for me.
He also seemed to have very little experience with other dogs. And thanks to doggie day care he BEAMS when he gets to play with his little friends there. Last Friday we went after missing the prior Friday and so he had missed one week....OMG he couldn’t contain himself!!! His little tail was wagging and he had a HUGE smile. Then he went NUTS when he saw the care takers there who stay with the different doggie groups.
He’s happy, this much I know.

I’m happy that he’s settled into his food. I was really worried when he wouldn’t eat after he first got home, and when he would go off his food.

I do give him chicken nuggets as a treat, when the Goldens get theirs for their Sunday treat. I get a 20 piece and he gets two and the Goldens get nine each.

He LOVES the McDonalds drive through because he knows what’s coming. 🤣🤣🤣

Taquito I'm so proud of you!!
I love the 1st and last pic. 1st: "No no, your not bigger than me I'm a mighty Chihuahua you see" 😄 Last: I didn't take your spot, there's more room over there" 🙂

I'm glad you figured out his food situation.
Jr has started to skip his breakfast I'm thinking he's bored of his food. He's been on the same brand/protein for a very long time. But when I add wet food he'll eat it all. But my dogs don't get it daily. So I'm wondering if I should wait him out or just switch protein/brand. I'm thinking Wellness or Simply Nourish. I'd love to try Wellness Core but the price is a bit too high plus I still have 3 others to think about.

Do you mix his wet food and his kibble?

I give Taquito a handful of kibble and mix half a can of wet. Wellness has two varieties of grain free wet food, one that’s like a coarse purée and the other has strips of meat with gravy. So I mix it, one day kibble with purée and the other day kibble with the strips and gravy. One can lasts me two days.

I sometimes add an over easy fried egg to add taurine. That’s really for the Goldens but I do it for Taquito too so he doesn’t feel left out.

Do you also feed Taquito Wellness kibble?
I was looking at the Wellness Complete Health Grain Free and it has similar protein/fat/fiber like the kibble he's on now but it's lamb. Which I'm considering trying.

So I don't always mix his kibble (or my other 3 dogs) with wet food. Sometimes they can go a whole week without wet food. Because I'll only really give them wet food for breakfast (usually at dinner they'll all eat their dinner which is just kibble) But also I don't have time in the morning I just have enough time to get ready myself and let them out/put back inside and give kibble. I've tried waking up earlier but majority of the time I just can't lol Sleeping earlier I need to work on.
Jr did eat his breakfast this morning. Also Sunshine was going through the same thing and I switched proteins and she tends to eat more in the mornings now.

Taquito needs to have everything the Goldens have! He's way too cute not to 😉
