Laurel's new vet
Laurel has been going to the clinic for her vaccinations, so she had her first "real" doctor's appointment last week for her skin problems. We're rural, so there aren't that many choices. I wanted to switch to "the best" from my cats' old vet, who was fine but our needs were more modest back then.
I really liked him. Laurel wasn't impressed, but he mentioned that he has a chi mix her size at home, immediately knew that it was allergies and not scabies, even though it was affecting her quality of life every bit as badly and had to be dealt with, and he was very gentle with her.
I also liked the way he phrased his advice about certain controversial issues, such as pediatric spay and kibble vs raw. I've done my research and I know my choices aren't right for everybody, but I did not feel judgement or condescension.
I was a bit surprised that he recommended bathing her QUITE so often, but she doesn't actually mind water, it makes sense to wash off possible environmental allergens, and bathing the dog is fun so I'll go with "doctor knows best", lol.
She's on Nexguard instead of Revolution, so it won't wash off, and he also gave her Temeril-P for immediate relief. She feels so much better.
New and somewhat nervous single pet parent of one adolescent Chi mix.
