Default I did it,I did it!!!

Well I finally did it and braved letting Adam off the lead!! I picked him up from work yesterday morning from my friend and we both took him and Hannah to the big park near us. He loved it!! He ran around and around so fast he actually made himself sick!!! LOL He came back easily for a treat and so did Hannah (who was on the extending lead), rolled in mud, sniffed every leaf and wore himself out!!!
In fact it went so well that today I let Hannah off too! I figured that as her recall is good now at 13 weeks it would be better if she can get into the habit of coming off lead when called. Well they are both little stars. They avoided 2 football matches going on right next to them, met a few dogs which scared them tho. However both did what I wanted when confronted by 2 boxers and a lab, when I called and crouched down they ran directly under my feet allowing me to size up the doggy company before I let them meet and greet.
So other than ruining a jumper with boxer slobber it was a resounding success!!!

Great to hear it went so well I was starting to think I was the only one who did let her dogs off the lead on this forum lol.

It's surprising how much more of a walk they get as they do literally wear themselves out, plus letting them off the lead avoids the overly dominant protective behaviour they seem to have when on the lead. In general I find my dogs are better behaved off than on the lead but hey that's my opinion each to their own.

I probably wouldn't mind doing that for open soccer field or in a park away from the road. I don't know I would have to see on if the dog is ready to go off lead, that takes some training sometimes, some of them are like rockets. So I congragulate you on your sucess. =)

Well it took just 2 days to find a doggy playmate!LOL As we were coming back from the park we were stopped by a lady who had a 5month old chi that she had been to scared to take out anywhere but seeing us asked if we could met up. So today Hannah and Adam met Chico!! They got on fantastically and got us tangled up in Chicos lead several times. She was most impressed by how my 2 recalled, even when they dissapeared into the woodlands one call and they came bounding back!! She is now gonna practice Chico's recall so maybe he can be an off lead pup one day and we are meeting up thursday for another play date.
First we shall free all the chi's then...... WORLD DOMINATION!!!!LOL
